Carol Wilson, 59, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont. She was born on April 17, 1956, in Beaumont, to Eileen Gilroy Vanderholt and Charles Edward Vanderholt, Jr., and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Survivors include her sister, Cathy Vanderholt Meents and her husband, Mark, of Houston; nieces, Rachel Meents; Lauren Meents; and Katie Mousavian and her husband, Afsheen; nephew, Robert E. Dunbar, III and his wife, Ana; and uncles, Reverend Monsignor James F. Vanderholt and Reverend Joseph Vanderholt, S.J. Carol is also survived by a family of close friends who supported and loved her unconditionally.

Carol worked for the City of Beaumont for 20 years as a fiscal assistant where she met and made lifelong friends. She enjoyed travel, gardening, music, and good times with friends at Wine Styles in Beaumont. She loved her family, not the least of which was her beloved cat, “Killer,” whose name was characteristic of Carol’s dry wit and brilliant sense of humor.

A gathering of Carol’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

I'm very sad to hear of Carols's passing. I enjoyed the time we had together at the City of Beaumont preparing the financial reports. It's rare to meet someone so fun to be with & as smart as she was! I know she is now blessed for the kindness she showed others.

Carol- Words can never explain what we have all felt for you the last few months. You continued to work through an unbelievable illness that has taken you from us much too soon. Your silent strength will always be a guide to any struggles I may bear. You will be missed my friend. By me, and all that have ever known you. I look forward to the day that we will meet again. May God bless you and your family.
