Nader Bood, 77, of Beaumont, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015. He was born June 14, 1938, in Waco. Youngest of seven children, Nader grew up hunting and fishing in the countryside around his home where he developed a love of the outdoors.

He attended Midway High School, where he lettered all four years in all sports. Nader was chosen to the Super Cen-Tex football team his senior year. He was honored by Midway High School with induction into their Hall of Honor.

Nader attended Kilgore Jr. College on a full football scholarship. Upon completion of his studies at Kilgore, he received a football scholarship at Lamar Tech, Beaumont. He was named All-Conference his senior year. Nader graduated from Lamar Tech in 1961, and was inducted into the Cardinal Hall of Honor in 1987.

While at Lamar, Nader met his future wife, Margaret Girolamo. In July, they would have celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. They have two children, James Paul Bood, of Houston, and Mary Angela Lee, of The Woodlands. Margaret and Nader have enjoyed their grandchildren; David Bood, Gina Bood, William Bood, Rebecca Lee, and Meredith Lee.

Upon graduation, Nader became a teacher/coach at Austin Jr. High, and later went on to Beaumont High School as an athletic coach. He made a positive impact on many young people, who continue to seek out “Coach”, even today.

Nader was given the opportunity to become a State Farm agent after coaching for five years. He continued to serve the Golden Triangle area as an agent for forty years.

Golf was Nader’s passion; he played with his friends at every opportunity. His skill awarded him nine holes in one.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bood; children, James Bood and Mary Lee and her husband, Mark; grandchildren, David, Gina, and William Bood; and Rebecca and Meredith Lee; sisters, Mollye Click and her husband, Don Click and Shirley Stebbins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nader is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Nader Bood; brothers, B.J., Bob, and Charlie; son, Nader W. Bood, Jr.; and twin granddaughters, Kelly and Lesli Lee.

Nader will be remembered for his compassion and care of his family and friends. His quick wit and caustic sayings will be remembered and quoted for years to come.

A gathering of Mr. Bood's family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Margaret,

I was saddened to learn of Nader's passing. He was a unique character and I always enjoyed our chats when he'd stop by the State Farm Agency Field Office. After he retired, I enjoyed the surprise visits from him. Of course, I really think he was dropping by to get a Snickers bar that he knew I would have for a him! He always kept me on my toes. It didn't take me long to figure out that under that tuff guy exterior was a big ole heart! He was one of my special agents and I consider my life very blessed to have known Nader. Hugs to you and your family
