Proverbs 14:26 "Whoever fears The Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge."

Bill Dickey, 88, of Bevil Oaks, left this earth on Friday, June 5, 2015. He was born on May 30, 1927, in Troup, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth Obar and James Carlton Dickey. He was the youngest of nine children.

Bill served in the United States Army during World War II. When he came home he went to work at Mobil Oil and then moved to Mobil Chemical where he retired with thirty-five years of service.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks. Bill loved his church, his family and helping others. He loved riding his bicycle and could be seen riding all over Bevil Oaks every day except Sunday.

Left to treasure his memory are his children, Allen Dickey and his wife, Deborah, of Lumberton and daughter, Gayle Lind and her husband, William, of Parker. He was PePaw to Heath Allen Dickey and his wife, Katie, of China; Kristen Kay Renfro and her husband, Theron, of Seabrook; and five great-grandchildren, Carter, Adrian, and Landrie Renfro and Logan and Emma Dickey.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Lillian Floy Dickey.

Bill will be greatly missed.

Loved, Loved, Loved Mr. Bill Dickey! My pew partner on Sunday and Wednesday evenings as well as my friend~ I have so many sweet memories. He would say or do something funny in church and turn and give me that sheepish look that he had .. then I would get tickled and he would get tickled and we just had to not make eye contact again or we would totally lose composure (which on occasion we did). On the evening before he went to the hospital I was out walking and heard a slight squeaking sound coming up behind me.. it was Bill! He was peddling slowly and steadily as he always did AND eating a sandwich (not the usual toothpick in his mouth but a sandwich).. Just like it was the thing to do - ride around and eat your dinner! He rode alongside me for some distance and we just talked about "stuff" but mostly enjoying one another's company. That was my last memory with him and I will treasure it. Such a comfort to know that he is with our Lord and Savior and that we will see him again. How richly blessed I was to have known him~
