Richard “Dick” Martin FitzHenry, 79, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on February 4, 1936, to Gertrude Ryan FitzHenry and Richard Horton FitzHenry, in Tenafly, New Jersey. Dick was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was an organizer of the first Taste of Beaumont for the Restaurant Association and spearheaded the original charity golf tournament for Boys’ Haven. He also volunteered civically for St. Anne’s School, YMBL and supported many charitable foundations.

Dick will be remembered as a loyal and generous friend, who was committed to his community and church. He enjoyed his years of bowling league and playing golf, including tournament trips to Colorado. I was shocked and saddened by the news of Dick's passing. He was such a kind, caring, genuine, and fun-loving man. I feel fortunate to have known Dick and to have been able to call him my friend. Prayers to all of his family for this sudden and tragic loss. Beaumont and certainly St. Patty's will be bit dimmer without Dick FitzHenry!

I hope to make it over this evening...if not, I will be with all of you in spirit.

Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day, saying,
"I will try again tomorrow."

Our lives are defined not by the challenges we encounter,
but by how we respond to those challenges.

Dick always knew how to come back for those challenges of tomorrow.

And he knew how to succeed.

He was one of those Very Special People.

My thoughts and prayers are with the FitzHenry Family.
