Joe R. Kubicek, 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on August 27, 1924, the oldest son of six children, to Marcella Olsovsky Kubicek and Rudolph Kubicek.

Joe was reared primarily in a Czech community, on a farm and ranch in Austin County. His love for ranching began at an early age, attending to the animals before walking to school. Shortly, after graduating from high school, World War II was declared and Joe joined the United States Army Air Corp. He served in the South Pacific until peace was declared. Joe attended the University of Houston where he studied Civil Engineering and later retired from Hughes Tool in Houston.

In his spare time, he continued farming and ranching in Austin, Tyler, Chambers, and Jefferson Counties. He was also an avid reader, traveler, active member of St. Anne Catholic Church, and a Charter Member of St. Anne’s Seniors 49ers Social Club.

Joe is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy; brothers, Rudolph, Julius, Jude Kubicek; sister, Narcissa Robisheau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marcella Jurek.

A gathering of Mr. Kubicek’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

The Kubicek family would like to thank the staff of Calder Woods and a very special thank you to the staff of Harbor Hospice for taking such good care of Joe. We greatly appreciated you.
