Viola Maxwell Judice, 96, of Beaumont, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She was born August 10, 1918, in Maurice, Louisiana, to Cloma Simon and John Portalise Broussard, and had been a longtime resident of the area.

Viola worked for Baker Williford and Nederland Pharmacies, and had been the cafeteria manager of Langham Elementary, before retiring to LaBelle. Viola was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved children, especially those in need. Viola opened her home and her heart to all the Lord sent to her. A beautiful woman inside and out, she was a gifted seamstress, quilter, gardener, and cook. Her joy was her family and big family gatherings. Her wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love for each of them will be forever cherished. The greatest gift she gave was her Christian faith. Viola truly loved as Christ loved.

She is survived by her daughters, Clarice Luke of Beaumont and Dee Halbert and her husband, David, of Abilene; son, Rick Maxwell and his wife, Jessie, of Port Neches; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sister, Willie Mae Ingwersen; and brothers, Dudley Broussard of Sulphur, Louisiana and Issac Broussard and his wife, Georgia, of Deridder, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, U.A. Maxwell; parents; son, Victor Maxwell; husband of nine years, Shelby Judice; and numerous brother and sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Judice’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her Rosary to be recited at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial Contributions in Mrs. Judice’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.

MawMaw will be greatly missed. I take great comfort knowing she is finally home resting in the arms of The Lord. She was such a special lady, like a grandma to me. I will always remember her good cooking and cherish the good memories at the farm, and the fun times and adventures I had there. Love and miss you MawMaw. Praying for comfort for her sweet family. I know they feel a deep loss.

Until we meet again...

Love from Shaun, Kim, and Molly
