Jewel Ann Scott, 75, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014. She was born on September 11, 1939, in Port Gibson, Mississippi, to Mildred Eudora Jackson Tanner and Ivan Maurice Tanner, Sr. Jewel was a loving individual and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Jewel and Dale met in Dallas where they both were living in the same apartment complex. She had moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Dallas on her way to Denver, Colorado where she had been offered a job in a doctor’s office there. They started dating in Dallas and Dale moved back to Fort Worth, only to have Jewel follow him. She rented an apartment in Fort Worth and he rented a lake house on Lake Worth. After continuing to date, they were married June 30, 1966 and honeymooned in Horsetail Falls, Old Mexico. When they returned to Fort Worth, Jewel continued her career working for doctors. Jewel worked as a medical secretary that began in Jackson, Mississippi and continued in Fort Worth and Beaumont where she retired as office manager for Dr. Ramachandren in 2001. Following her retirement, on her 62nd birthday, Dale presented Jewel with a little yorkie puppy that she named Pebbles. She loved and cherished Pebbles who has been their house pet ever since.

In 1976, Acme Brick Company transferred Dale to Beaumont where Jewel was a stay at home mom. In 1980, he was transferred to Austin where Jewel got interested in ceramics and had two ceramic kilns in the garage and made all kinds of neat things. She was also heavily involved in scouting with her children while in Austin.

After retirement, she loved to work in her yard with flowers and fruit trees and was real proud of her back yard. She loved to fish and enjoyed many vacations on the water with her family. She was a member of Calder Baptist Church in Beaumont.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Scott; children, Andrew Scott and his wife, Tiffany and Ashley Scott, all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Emma Scott Wellman, Lauren Scott Wellman, Trenton Boring, Shelby Bouffaine, and Andrew LeBlanc; brother, Carl Tanner and his wife, Phyllis, of Tallahassee, Florida; and sister, Carolyn Jennings of Harrisonville, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ivan M. Tanner, Jr.
