Eddy Howard Yates, 60, of Beaumont, Texas, died on October 19, 2014. He was born on June 27, 1954, to Lillian and Howard Yates in Overton, Texas.

Eddy was married to the love of his life, his person, Cassy Snowden Yates and a BONUS dad to his BONUS children, Ericka Neves, Dustin Lowe, Madison Neves and Raylea Neves and a BONUS grandfather to Logan Roberts. Eddy loved you all very much.

Eddy worked as a general manager for Clean Harbors for 25 years and thought very highly of Chris Dupuis, Vicky Womack, and Carla Williams and his other team members at Clean Harbors.

Eddy was also a member of Beaumont Elks Lodge 311.

Eddy had a very special and loving nature. When you became Eddy's friend, you became family.

Eddy is also survived by his in-laws, Judy and Lynn Snowden; his sister-n-laws, Sherry Koch and Tammy Hentrich and husband, Mike Hentrich; his brother-n-law, Michael Snowden and wife, Shambree; his niece, Kaley Koch; his nephews, Cody Koch, Kane Snowden, and Jace Hentrich; his uncles, Artie Jones, Sr. and wife, Evadene, Bill Hopson; Margaret Paloma Jones; his cousins, Darla Medlin, Artie Jones, Jr.; Deana Hobson and Mark Hopson, and many other family members too numerous to name.

Eddy was preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Peg.

Eddy is also survived by many special friends, David Rossi, Kenneth Moore and Pat Hall Moore, Leonard Randle, Kenneth and Sheila LaFleur, Darrell Berwick and Dustye Billiot, Ella Johnston-Leger and Donald Leger, Fay and Virgil Martel, Dave and Monica Huber, Kent and Debbie Bailey, Mark and Janney Gordon, Darold LeJune, Raonna Frederick Stiltner and Bob Stiltner, Lou and Patti Cappi, Bob and Reggie Horne, Brandon and Rachelle Romines, Joe and Anna McCracken, David and Kim Hynes, and all of his Elks family.

Other special friends include Ricky and Tina Denton, Vicky Lewis, and Marae Collier.

Eddy is also survived by his beloved Meme, Linda Huckaby.

Eddy's hobbies were barbecuing and cooking out (remember, you can't beat his brisket or prime rib). If you went home hungry, it was because you didn't eat. He always cooked way too much. He thought Amazon Prime was the bomb. He couldn't wait for packages to arrive sometimes twice a day. He also loved his old cars and was so excited when he was surprised with his 1935 Chevy which was delivered on his 60th birthday. Eddy always enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family. Everyone was always welcome at Eddy's. He even ran a "house for wayward men". Also, always remember, you have to become one with your banana pudding and you must cook it s-l-o-w-l-y. Everything also had a "secret" ingredient - you will never be able to cook it just like he did unless you were extremely special and he told you. Always remember, Eddy with a "Y" and Eddyo.

A memorial service for Mr. Yates will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas, followed by a ceremony at the Elks Lodge on Highway 90 in Beaumont, Texas, with a gathering of friends and family immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eddy’s name to Elks Lodge #311, P.O. Box 21757, Beaumont, Texas 77720-1757.

We can’t know why some things happen….but we can know that love and beautiful memories outlast the pain of grief.  And we can know that there’s a place inside the heart where love lives always….and where nothing beautiful can ever be forgotten. Thank you Eddy for loving my dear friend Cassy and her beautiful children. You impacted their lives in such a special way that will remain in their hearts forever. You we're Cassys angel here on earth, but I know you'll forever remain her guardian angel.. You'll truly be missed.

I'll always have the keepsake eddy gave me, a little part of him. And I'll always be proud of my honorary guest elk-ette title I was given. Glad you are no longer in pain, my dear.

This HAS to be the same beautiful "little boy" that was around two years old when his parents pastored my church in Pineland, Texas. I have wondered through the years what became of that family. So sorry for your loss...sounds like he became a wonderful young man.
