Marie Ollie Edgar entered into peace and rest with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2005. Born on April 6, 1921 in Church Point, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Adonica Meloncon.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Clay “Red” Edgar, whom she married on April 11, 1941. She loved to read and play bingo and was a wonderful seamstress; she also enjoyed crochet and many other crafts. Marie is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kathryn Mann Luquette; her sister, Elsie Meloncon Burrell; brothers, J.C. Meloncon, F.A. “Doc” Meloncon and J.D. Meloncon.
She is survived by her son, Henry Dale Edgar and wife Sandra of Fannett; daughter, Carolyn Layer and husband Carl of Lockport, NY; brother, Joe E. Meloncon and wife Sandra of Hamshire; sisters, Zola Barton and husband Bruce of Reno, NV and Rita Cavanaugh and husband Dave of Sebula, Iowa.
Marie was grandmother to Wendy Benoit and husband Darren of Winnie, Charles Mann and wife Lisa, Clay Mann both of Hamshire, Derek Edgar and wife Stepahanie of Fannett, Brandy Nichols and husband Jeff of Orange, Brandon Edgar of Enterprise, Al. She was great grandmother to Justin Singletary, Corbin Mann, Nash Nichols, Quaid Nichols and Trace Edgar.
The family wishes to thank all caregivers and staff at the Arboretum Nursing Facility in Winnie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fannett with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday evening with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
