Olivia Moreno Mireles died January 17, 2005 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born in Beaumont, Texas on February 12, 1934 where she grew up, raised a family and worked her entire life. Olivia was a cheerleader at Crockett Junior High School and attended Beaumont High School. Dancing the mambo and jitterbug, gardening and cooking were among her numerous talents. Her meals were always enough for everyone and then some. Above all, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother and a role model to all who knew her. Hardworking and honest, she touched many lives through her work as a nurse assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital where each of her patients were treated with great care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elodia and Jose Moreno; and by her sisters, Judy Morgan and Mary Arredondo.

Her legacy is her family. Olivia dedicated her life to her children. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Mitzi and Gary Vann, Diane and Tyrrell Henley, Jackie and Hal Burke, Lisa Barrett Wilson and Tim Wilson; and her daughter, Angel Garcia. Also surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law; Greg and Sue Mireles, Tony and Monica Mireles, Bobby and Carolyn Mireles and Glynn and Laura Mireles. Her adored sisters are, Toni Rojas, Juanita Lucas, Delia Gonzales, Helen Stanley, Delores Martinez and Josephine Garcia. Her dearly loved grandchildren are, Tish and Ron Carlin, Megan, Stephanie, and Ross Mireles, Beverly and J. James, Alicia Mireles, Tara Mireles, Alaxandra Mireles, Tyrrell and Olivia Henley, Seth and Matthew Mireles, Erin, Troy, and Hal Burke, and Kaitlyn and Justin Barrett. Her precious great grandchildren are, Brianna and Marissa Carlin and Analyssa Wood. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks her special friend, Tom “Mr. Tom” Lawrence and the staff of Odyssey Hospice.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church Thursday, January 20, 2005 under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with committal to follow at Broussard’s Crematorium. A gathering of her family and friends will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the mortuary, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A light is from our household gone

A voice we love is stilled,

A place is vacant in our home,

Which never can be filled.

We have to mourn the loss of one

We did our best to save.

Beloved on earth, regretted still

Remembered in the grave.

’Twas hard to part with one so dear,

We little thought the time was near.

Farewell, dear one, life is past

Our love for you till the end will last.
