Roy Clinton Drake, 68, of Spurger, left this life and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 24, 2014. After a three year battle with bone marrow disease God saw that he was tired and took him home. Roy was born on June 20, 1945, in Silsbee, to Mae Belle Powell Drake and Roderick Murrah Drake.

He was a 1963 graduate of Spurger High School and proudly served in the United States Army from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam Era. He was employed with Exxon-Mobil for twenty-eight years and served as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Tyler County for twenty-four years. Roy was affiliated with Snow River Lodge #385 AF & AM of Spurger and faithfully served his community through the Lions Club and Gideon’s International. Roy’s two greatest joys were building churches through the Assembly of God MAPS program and sharing his many vegetables he grew each year.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-three years, Kathryn “Candy” Drake; children, Amy Williford and her husband, Calvin; Alan Drake and his wife, Michele; and Angela Slaughter and her husband, Chris; grandchildren, Hannah and Steven Williford, Baylee and Audrey Drake, Kieran, Ryan, and Zoe Dunn, and Chris Jr. and Ian Slaughter; great-granddaughter, Emma Lee Williford; and soon arriving great-grandson, Walker Wayne Williford; sisters, Simuel Lee Ard of Silsbee and Barbara Osburn and her husband, Kenny, of Vidor; brothers, George Arthur Drake and his wife, Bobbie Jean, of Silsbee; Harold Drake and his wife, Jean, of Tarkington; Harvey Drake and his wife, Sissy, of Hull; and Johnny Perry and his wife, Carol, of Paris.
