Mitzi was born January 21, 1935, in Glen Richey, PA. She was the oldest of four children and told many stories of her childhood, her sisters and brother. She had been a resident of the Nederland area for the past 43 years.
On June 23, 1960 she married Westley C. Sheffield and moved to Nederland, TX. She was a devoted wife, mother of three and grandmother of six. She chose to stay at home and raise her children rather than work outside home. She poured her time and energies into caring for her family. Most of all she loved being a grandmother. She traveled often to Dallas and San Marcos in order to spend time with all of her grandchildren. She also loved being outdoors working in her garden and yard. She believed that you could do anything you set your mind to and that you should not give up just because things get tough. She modeled these values throughout her life and her illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland. Mitzi was also a member of Port Neches Eastern Star Chapter # 677.
Survivors include her husband, Westley Sheffield of Nederland; one daughter, Sharon Birdsong and husband, Lance of Kingsbury, TX; two sons, Arthur Sheffield and wife, Susan of Keller, TX, and Quinton Sheffield and wife, Belinda of San Marcos, TX; two sisters, Ella Mae Turner of Mt.
