Ann Elizabeth Heaney Johnson, 78, was called to her Heavenly Home on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. Ann was born on December 26, 1935, in Houston, to Pauline Catherine Heaney and Thomas Dayton Heaney.

She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, Houston. Ann was a cheerleader at St. Thomas High School and then attended The University of Texas at Austin. She met and married Andrew Johnson, Jr., of Port Bolivar, in 1957. It was along the Gulf Coast in Port Bolivar that she raised her family and became a longtime member of Port Bolivar Baptist Church. Ann began her career with Galveston Independent School District at Port Bolivar Elementary where she was lovingly called “Miss Ann”. She retired in the year 2000 after thirty-six years with GISD.

Ann relocated to Beaumont, as a result of Hurricane Ike in 2008. She became affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church, Beaumont where she faithfully served our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ann enjoyed many trips and excursions with family and close friends around the United States, Texas, and abroad. She loved to share her many traveling experiences with all her acquaintances. Ann loved sports, spending time with grandchildren, and giving her own interpretation of the weather forecasts.

She is survived by her son, Andrew Johnson III and his wife, Marianna, of Houston; daughter, Kathy Syphrett and her husband, Dan, of Stowell; grandchildren, Andrew Neil Johnson and his wife, Tiffany; Robert Johnson; Elizabeth Foreman; Daniel Syphrett and his wife, Brittany; and Garrett Syphrett; sisters, Carol Ensle and her husband, Ernie and Pauline Catherine Heaney, all of Arizona; and nieces and nephews, Scott, Diane, and Kristen.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Tommy Heaney and Michael Joseph Heaney.

Ann will be remembered with love and will be dearly missed by her family and friends she touched during her life.

A gathering of Ms. Johnson’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Celebration of her Life to follow at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service for Ms. Johnson will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Port Bolivar Community Cemetery, Port Bolivar.
