Joeseph Thomas “Joe” Simoneaux, Sr., 78, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Cypress Glen East, Port Arthur. He was born February 2, 1936, to Lilia and Joe Simoneaux in Nederland. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army and moved to Beaumont after serving two years as Private First Class. In 2000, he and his wife moved to Groves, where they lived for the last fourteen years. Joe was employed as a mechanic for many years, before his retirement. He was a loving and wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will always be cherished and missed dearly by many.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Martha Jo Simoneaux; daughter, Melanie Ann Gaspar of Three Rivers, sons, Joseph Thomas Simoneaux, Jr. of Kirbyville and Richard Wayne Simoneaux of Silsbee; grandchildren, Joshua Gaspar, Sandy Gaspar, Kourtney Simoneaux, Joseph Thomas Simoneaux, III, Brittany Ozio Briana Simoneaux, Hannah Ornduff and Emily Lewis; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of Mr. Simoneaux’s family and friends will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
