Wynette Roberts Salter, 92, of Sour Lake died January 9, 2005 in Kountze Nursing Center. Wynette was born in Kountze and was a third generation resident of Hardin County and a long time resident of Sour Lake. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Sour Lake.
Wynette was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, J. K. Salter. Surviving are her daughter and husband, Mary Margaret and AllenWilliford of Houston; brother and his wife, Hooks and Scottie Roberts of Orange; sister-in-law, Eleanor Birdwell of Beaumont; three grandchildren and their spouses, Bruce and Debra Williford of Houston, Karen and Albert Shade of Riverside, California, and Brent and Shannon Williford of Lumberton; seven great grandchildren, Justin and Brooke Williford, Matt, Andy, and Jacob Shade, and Laura and Anna Williford; and several nieces and nephews in the area.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Broussard’s, 1605 N Major Drive, Beaumont followed by burial at Hooks Cemetery, Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday evening, January 11, 2005 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Mortuary.
