Elsie Agnes Babin-Bruno, 76, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully January 17, 2014, after a long illness. Agnes was born on October 5, 1937, in Hydro, Oklahoma, the 7th of 9 children, to the late Mack Cecil Russell and Georgia Ben Harrison Russell. She began her thirty-five year long medical career with Orthopedic Doctors, Wallace, Shuffield, Alexander, and McNeill, until her retirement with Beaumont Bone and Joint.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Robert L. Bruno of Beaumont; daughters, Kelly Munro of Beaumont and Gerry Choate of Nederland; son, Brian Babin of Beaumont; sisters, Wanda Emerson of Missouri, Maxine Davis of Kansas, and twin sister, Alice Sauls of BonWier, and Jerry McMenamy of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; Josh and Jeff Munro, Hailey, Chandler, and Brock Choate; stepchildren, Brenda Bruno, and son, Ian; and Bobby and Bill Bruno.

Agnes is preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Elden A. Babin; brothers, Cecil Russell and E. Wayne Russell; and sisters, Annie L. Chapman and Nada L. Weaver.

A gathering of her family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Deckert, Rollan Sauls, Lee Russell, Chip Smith, Jeff Thompson, and Ian Bruno.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Ever since junior high, Agnes loved being a cheerleader and playing golf. Golf stuck with her many years later as her favorite pastime, that and dancing. She loved to dance. Even in her last good months she still danced. Agnes’ favorite movie was “Gone with the Wind”. She was sleeping with her blanket until her last breath. You could always bet that being around Agnes, you would hear her distinct very warming laughter; a contagious laughter that filled the room.
