Marga Hoelscher Covington, of Port Arthur Texas, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2005.
Born July 9, 1934 in Wesermunde-Lahe, Germany, Ms. Covington came to live in the Port Arthur area in 1955. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Sam Covington of Port Arthur; a sister, Augusta Brown of Port Neches; a son, Aaron Covington of Nederland; daughter, Diane McKee of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son, Marc Covington, of Groves, Texas; son, Roger Covington, of Nederland, and daughter, Lauri Grantham of Beaumont. She was also the proud grandmother of thirteen and the great-grandmother of four.
Ms. Covington was employed for 35 years at the former Sabine National Bank in Port Arthur and was retired from Lamar State College in Port Arthur. Ms. Covington was also a life member of Port Arthur Little Theatre and a member of Eastern Star, Port Neches Chapter Number 677.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at First Church of God in Port Arthur. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, January 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s Mortuary, 505 12th Street, Nederland.
The family thanks those many people who provided comfort during Ms. Covington’s lengthy illness.
