Lucy Linnette Maida joined her heavenly father on December 6, 2013. Lucy was born in Orange, Texas on February 19, 1923, to Robert and Christine Stanton. She lived 90 full and joyful years and love of family charted her life.

A native of Vidor, Texas, Lucy was in the 1939 graduating class of Vidor High School. In high school she was a skilled tennis player, and over the years the memory of her talent seemed to increase. She met the love of her life, Sam Maida, after high school and they married in 1941. She and Sam moved to San Diego, California during WWII while Sam was serving in the Navy. Their first daughter, Patricia Ann Maida Neild was born while they were living in San Diego. After the war, Lucy and Sam made their home in Beaumont, Texas where their second daughter, Carole Maida Bailey, was born.

Lucy was an avid volunteer. She was in charge of the citywide Red Cross free swim program for many years. She also served as St. Anne's Ladies psident, Neches River Festival volunteer, a fundraiser for Kelly High School athletics, and always a room mother. Lucy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, George Moffett chapter.

Lucy had an adventuresome spirit. She loved to travel and plan trips and enjoyed the outdoors, especially being in the woods of East Texas. A favorite pastime was spending time with her husband's large family at their beach cabin in Gilchrist. Lucy had a "green" thumb and passed her love of gardening on to her daughters. Her terrific sense of style was admired by many. Lucy was also an excellent cook and her coconut pie was highly prized. Lucy loved watching her grandchildren in all their sporting events. A long time member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Beaumont, Lucy moved to Houston in 2009 to be close to family.

Lucy is pdeceased by her husband of 65 years, Sam Maida, and their daughter Patricia "Patty " Neild, her brother, Grady "Pot" Stanton, and her sister Roberta Philmon. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Maida Bailey and husband F. Kenneth Bailey, sister-in- law Helen Stanton, grandchildren Camp Bailey and wife Sheri, Jenna Bailey Junell and husband Harris Junell, Christine Putnam and husband Russell Putnam, and Chad Cantella and wife Allison. Lucy leaves sixteen nieces and nephews and their spouses. Lucy was also blessed by her 15 great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are Pete Maida, Frank Maida, Charlie Kirkpatrick, Bill Neild, Stanton Morse, Sam Maida, Joe Maida, Charles Russo, and Jay Riley. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Broussard's Mortuary, 1605 N. Major Dr., Beaumont. The Rite of Christian Burial for family and close friends will be held on Monday, December 9, 10:00 am, at Broussard’s Mortuary. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Truly beautiful person. When first meeting her many years ago, thought she was Patty's sister.
She had a soft heart and kind words for all of us.

To Carole and family and to Patty's family,

Miss Lucy was always such a beautiful lady, a most gracious hostess, a good friend of my mom and our family, and had such a great wit. I have fond memories of laughing with her and Sam, and spending many, many overnights and garage dances in Caldwood. What precious memories.
Gerald and I will see you at the visitation on Sunday
