Mary Ann King was born September 27, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Joe and Margaret Chenella and sister of Joe Chenella, Jr. She died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in Beaumont, at Harbor Hospice, and has been welcomed into heaven by her Lord. Mary Ann and her husband Skip celebrated almost fifty-nine years of marriage before his passing. She was very involved with her loving family, and her happy attitude and prayerful manner were a blessing.

Mary Ann loved to be with people, and volunteered with many associations. She and her husband Skip were members of the Couples Club of St. Joseph Church. Other outside interests and hobbies were knitting, playing cards and dominoes with her friends.

Mary Ann was always involved with her church and being involved gave her the opportunity to show her children how to love Jesus through loving others. She was the chairperson for the Sacred Heart League for many years, and maintained a prayer list and sent out Mass Intention Cards to the families of the deceased of the Sacred Heart League. Also, Mary Ann was a Eucharistic Minister and gladly took Holy Communion to the sick or shut-in of the parish. She assisted when needed in the parish office in counting the weekly collection. Mary Ann was the recipient of the Benediction of Love Award in 2001.

She is survived by her three children: two sons; Marcus J. King and Gregory F. King and his wife, Carolyn, all of Beaumont; daughter Margaret E. Young and her husband, James, of Cypress; brother, Joe Chenella, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of College Station; grandchildren, Courtney King of Dallas; Meagan Bernard and her husband, Marcus, of Orange; and Zachary Young of Cypress; and great-granddaughter, Madison Prejean, of Orange..

She was preceded in death by her husband; and her granddaughter, Anita King Anderson.

A gathering of Mrs. King’s family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
