She spent most of her life in Buffalo and worked as a school crossing guard at what became known as Helen’s corner for thirty-two years. In 2000, she moved with her husband, Fran, to Beaumont, to be closer to her daughters.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Francis Boyd; daughters, Mary Lou Lucenti and her husband, Tony, of Beaumont and Reva Raschke and her husband, Robert, of Houston; grandson, Erick Lucenti and his wife, Codi; and great-granddaughters, Kelsay, Kayla, and Kensi, all of Houston; sister-in-law, Jeanne Huntington and her husband, Bill; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; and six sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Boyd’s family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m., with her memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her committal was at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. Final resting place for Mrs. Boyd will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, New York, at a later date.

The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff of Emeritus Dowlen Oaks Assisted Living who loved and cared for her every day; and to the staff of Altus Hospice for their gentle care during Helen’s final days. The caregivers at these two facilities are true angels.

To Uncle Fran and all of your family: As the video of Aunt Helen's life shows, she was a special and fun lady. I have memories of her going back to when I was a young child and those memories include the last time I visited with her 2 years ago. "Fran and Helen" weren't just family to my mom and dad but also very dear friends, who they spent time with a few times, every year, even though they lived 300 miles apart for most of their adult lives. So, rest in peace dear Aunt Helen....in heaven and in the midst of your six sisters. With love, Marilyn
