Bessie Schultz, 90, of Port Bolivar, went home to be with her Lord, on Friday, October 18, 2013, at The Arboretum of Winnie. This final journey reunites her with her loving husband and soul mate, Jerry, as well as many other family members. Bessie was born on June 17, 1923, to Albert and Bessie Rohachet Strimple, in Brazoria County. She was a devoted and loving mother. During her children’s early school years, she was a very active member of the school’s PTA. Mrs. Schultz was a longtime resident of the Port Bolivar area. After Jerry’s death, she worked and retired in 1993, from American National Insurance Company, where she became a department manager. A lifelong member of Port Bolivar First United Methodist Church, she was warm and loving, always had a smile on her face, and never met a stranger.

She is survived by daughters, Rita Lind and her husband, George, and Judy Deem and her husband, Tim, all of Lamarque; and Sylvia Comeaux and her husband, Joe, of Port Bolivar; son, Robert Schultz, of Port Bolivar; son-in-law, Michael Ling; grandchildren, Michele Birsinger, James Deem Jr., Tammy Bage, Geri Alfaro, Michael Ling, Jr., Wesley Ling, Meredith Getty, Ferrin Ramirez, Delino Comeaux, Clayton Comeaux, great-grandchildren, Lindsay McDaniel, Hannah Birsinger, Gabby Birsinger, Evan Birsinger, Kristen Alcala, Jaidyn Deem, Brandon Bage, Brianna Bage, Sarah Jones, Brandi Alfaro, Michael Alfaro, Ty Getty, Luke Getty, Kyle Getty, Sophia Comeaux, and Jordan Comeaux; great-great-grandchildren, Haydon Wells and Braylon Wells; sister-in-law, Theresa Strimple; brother-in-law, Earl Ray Bouse; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Schultz; children, Jeree Lynn Schultz, Frank Schultz, and Ginger Ling; and twelve siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Arboretum of Winnie and Odyssey Hospice for the wonderful care and comfort given to our mother during this time.

A gathering of Mrs. Schultz’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at Port Bolivar First United Methodist Church, 1121 Madison Avenue, Port Bolivar.
