Lealon “Lee” Ray Jenkins, 72, of Beaumont, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at his home with his wife and children at his side. He was born on October 24, 1940, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Lula Good Jenkins and Clarence Jenkins.

Lee moved to the area in 1978, and he and his wife Janice operated JanCo General Contractors until retiring in 2004. Their largest remodeling project was the couple's historic home. He was a wonderful family man who enjoyed tinkering with his vintage cars, spending mornings at Shipley's Donuts, and extensive traveling across the United States.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Janice Kay O'Meara Jenkins; daughters, Ginger Burgess and her husband, Bob, of Galveston; Jill Borque of Sour Lake; son, Jeremy Jenkins of Katy; grandchildren, Alaina Yepez, Gabriel Yepez, Adrian Yepez, and Kelsea Borque; and, numerous family members and friends.

The family thanks everyone who supported Lee including M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Altus Hospice and all other medical professionals involved in his care.

Cremation arrangements were handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Jenkins’ name to M.D. Anderson, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210 or www.mdanderson.org.

Lee was truly one of the good guys and a great friend, always with a big smile on his face He leaves us with happy memories of good times at the donut shop. Lee always made sure I got "a cold one" when I dropped by his house. His sense of humor and sincere friendship will be greatly missed by all his buddies at Shipley's.

Janice & Family, My prayers are with you during this time. I have so many childhood memories that have Pinky and you all and have many pictures of vacations spent together. My Dad was fortunate to have worked for you for many years and moved us here. I know many years have passed since I have seen you all, but I just want you to know that I am thinking of you all.
