Anthony George Fontana, Jr., 70, of Beaumont passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2004. He was born to Anthony George Fontana, Sr. and Evelyn Wallace Fontana on November 23, 1934. He was a Beaumont native and lived for many years in Houston, Texas. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Air Force. George retired form City Central Couriers in Houston, Texas three years ago, and had lived in Beaumont since his retirement. He leaves a family that will greatly miss him, as well as his contagious.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from noon until service time.
He is survived by his daughter, Shea Blackburn and her husband Ken Blackburn of Union, Kentucky; sister, Janie Hankins of Beaumont; brother, John W. Fontana, Sr. and his wife Mary Fontana of Royse City, Texas; nephew, John W. Fontana, Jr. and his wife Jeri Fontana of Colorado Springs, Colorado; niece, Angela Gutilla and her husband Chuck Gutilla of Royse City, Texas; nephew, Jack Carroll and his wife Vicki Carroll of Beaumont; nephew, Lee Carroll and his wife Lisa Carroll of Lumberton; and nephew, Beau Carroll of Beaumont.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gloria Zappia, the staff at the Julie and Ben Rodgers Cancer Institute, and the fine nursing staff at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital, especially the ICU nursing staff, for the loving care they provided George and the kindness they showed both George and his family.
