Marvin “Ed” Edgar Weems, 95, of
Beauxart Gardens, died Monday, August 19, 2013. He was on born January 11, 1918, in Tennessee
Colony, Texas, to Katherine and John Weems. Ed enjoyed sharing vegetables from
his garden and was passionate about working in his church. He served as Deacon
and was known as a greeter and a hugger. Ed worked in his earlier years in the
oil industry, at his dairy and finally as an operator in the refinery industry
before his retirement. He was also a Mason for many years.
He is survived by his children, Blinda
Gaspard and her husband, Phillip, of Beauxart Gardens; Jed Weems of Port Arthur;
Gail Holder of Frierson, Louisiana; and Burke Weems and his wife, Ramona, of
Beaumont; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents;
wife of seventy years, Adley Weems; and son, Briggs Weems.
A gathering of Mr. Weems’ family and friends
will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday, August 22, 2013, at First Baptist Church 17019 Highway 124, Fannett,
with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
