Dr. N. G. “Doc” Ferrell, 80, of
Silsbee, died Saturday, August 3, 2013. He was born on November 9, 1932, in He graduated from Texas A&M with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Brown, in 1953. Dr. Ferrell moved to Silsbee in 1961 and started his veterinary practice. He was very active in school, city government, and served on the Silsbee ISD school board for over twenty-one years. Dr. Ferrell was President of the Texas Fox Hunters Association and also served on the Hardin County Airport Board. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Joanne Ferrell; children, Nathan Ferrell and his wife, Penny, of Beaumont; Carl Wayne Ferrell; Kimberly Hartman and her husband, Marlon; and Kirsten Martin and her husband, Roger, all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Jennifer Dauriac and her husband, Byron; Alexis Hartman and her husband, Joey; Carlea Crosson and her husband, Doug; Jessica Ferrell; Katelyn Hartman; Tanner Hawthorne; Matthew Hartman; Sarah Ferrell; Adam Hawthorne; Craig Martin; and Cory Martin; great-grandchildren, Jace Hartman; Rilynn Martin; Shelby Crosson; Kyler Lamkin; and Jaxson Dauriac. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Kirby Wills Hawthorne.
