Procoro Cantu, 58, of Beaumont, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Tlapa, Guerrero, Mexico. He was born on March 30, 1955, in Tlapa, to Eufrocina Martinez and Joaquin Cantu.

He worked as an Offshore Supervisor for PeMex in Mexico and then had the opportunity to start working for Brown and Root in 1978. In 1979, he transferred to J & S Oil Tools in Fannett, Texas, where he continued to work in the Oil Field Industry. In 1990, along with his wife and children, he moved to Beaumont, Texas. In 1995, while working for TRACO Oil Company, he had an accident at work and became disabled.

After no longer being able to work in the Oil Field Industry, he found ways to keep himself busy and ventured into opening, alongside his wife, an Auto Repair Shop. Mr. Cantu, as many knew him by, will be remembered by many, especially those whom he was able to lend a helping hand. Mr. Cantu will be truly missed by his family, but most importantly by his grandchildren, whom were his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eufrocina and Joaquin Cantu; and brother, Evaristo Cantu.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Cantu of Beaumont; daughter, Dolores Gatica and her husband, Irving, of Beaumont; sons, Victor Cantu of Beaumont and Javier Cantu and his wife, of Mexico; sisters, Rocio Cantu of Mexico and Antonia Cantu of New York; grandchildren, Irving Gatica, Jr. and Isabel Gatica, both of Beaumont; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A gathering of Mr. Cantu’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013, with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forrest Lawn 4955 Pine St. Beaumont.
