Eunice Hale Kotz

Eunice Hale Kotz, 78, of
Winnie, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at University Hospital, San Antonio. She was born on December 12,
1934, to Louise Abshire Bertrand and Theo Bertrand.
Eunice was a lifelong resident
of Winnie. She enjoyed growing her garden and spending countless hours
processing and canning her vegetables. Eunice always looked forward to taking
trips to the casino and trying her luck at bingo and in her free time, she
loved crocheting blankets. She was known for spending all day cooking home-cooked
meals for her family and friends. Above all Eunice adored her family and her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
She is survived by her
daughters, and Annette Rayburn and her husband, Kyle of Winnie, and Cindy Kotz
Hebert of Nederland; sons, Marlin K. Kotz Jr., and his wife Janice, of
Nederland; Mike Kotz and his wife Mandy of Port Acres; Paul Kotz and his wife
Suzette, of Port Neches; and Darrell Kotz and his wife, Frances of Winnie;
grandsons, Jay Rayburn, Chris Hebert, Jarred Kotz, and James Kotz;
granddaughters Lana Rayburn Nelius, Jennifer Hebert, Andrea Kotz Neild, Amanda
Kotz Lancaster and Cherie Kotz Wilber; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, L.
J. Bertrand and his wife, Shirley of Hamshire, and Sidney Bertrand and his
wife, Ginger of Winnie; sister, Francis LeJune of Victoria; and numerous
relatives and friends.
Eunice is preceded in death by
her husbands, J. E. Hale and Marlin Kotz, Sr.; brother, J. B. Bertrand; and
sisters, Beulah Boyle and Norma Schmidt.
A gathering of Eunice’s family
and friends will be from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013,
with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive,
Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday,
July 25, 2013, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Winnie, with her Interment to
follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
