Melvin Lee
Simoneaux, 73, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 19, 2013. He was born on July 22,
1939, to Maria and Arthur “A.J.” Simoneaux, in Port Arthur, and had been a
lifelong resident of the area. Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army
National Guard. He worked as a
maintenance supervisor with DuPont Refinery, having retired after thirty years
of employment. Melvin was a member Knights of Columbus, Brooks Council #5145 of
Nederland, and a longtime board member of DuPont Federal Credit Union. He
enjoyed dancing, visiting the beach, fishing, and was an avid sports fan,
especially of football.
Melvin is
survived by his daughters, Rynada Byrd and her husband, Glenn, of Nederland and
Rebecca Hebert and her husband, Johnny, of Groves; mother of his children and
previous wife of forty-two years, Barbara Simoneaux-Garry; grandchildren,
Krysta Chavez, Kelli Campbell, Sydney Essary, and Katrina Vance; five
great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Adams and her husband, Barry, of China;
brother, Arthur Simoneaux, Jr. and his wife, Dana, of Many, Louisiana; aunt,
Dorothy Simoneaux of Groves; and numerous other family members.
He is preceded
in death by his parents; and son, Thad Simoneaux.
A gathering of
Mr. Simoneaux’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with
a Christian Vigil to begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service
will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to
follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
