Dorothy Appelt Love, 88, of Winnie, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, July 14, 2013. She was born on August 11, 1924, in Hallettsville, to Julia Sobotik and Alvin Appelt.

Dorothy obtained her nursing degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, and was a practicing registered nurse for many years. She married Dr. Albert J. Love, M.D. in 1948 and began their family. Dorothy loved nursing, gardening, classical music, and especially opera, (Mozart and Pavarotti). She also loved her family dearly and life itself.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jacquelyn Impson and her husband, Mike, of Denton; Karen Donovan and her husband, Dan, of Jacksonville, Florida; Albert “Buzz” Love and his wife, Pat, of Escondido, California; and Leslie Love and Nita Kirkham, both of Winnie; grandchildren, Scott Impson, Caroline Haugabook, Lesley Ann Sewell, and Jane Ley; great-grandchildren, Josiah Sewell, Micah Sewell, and Hannah Ley.

A gathering of Mrs. Love’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
