Eugene “Gene” Harris Belaire, age 66, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Mid Jeff Extended Care Hospital in Nederland. He was born in Port Arthur on January 10, 1947 to the late Dolores Angelle Belaire and Harris Belaire. A lifelong resident of Nederland, he was a graduate of  Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Acres. He proudly served in the US Air Force and retired from KCS Railroad after 40+ years. He was a man who loved his family, children and grandchildren. He loved his cell phone and keeping in touch with all his family near and far. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Bridget Reneé Belaire; granddaughter, Addison Belaire; parents, Dolores and Harris Belaire and father-in-law, Leo Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Cherié Belaire and fiancé Fred Heubach; son, Trey Belaire III of Dilley, TX; grandchildren, Bryce Garron Mouton (Belaire) of Buna, Makayla Reneé Brandon (Belaire) of Port Arthur, and Layden Williams (Belaire) of Groves; sister, Paulette “Boo” Belaire Keck of Lumberton; brothers, Craig Belaire and wife Marky of Nederland, Kenneth Belaire of Port Neches and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Special thanks to Cathy Belaire for helping Gene and also helping us with caring and sitting with him. Also Jean Heubach thank you for doing Gene’s hair while in extended care. The family is very grateful for the time Gene had with his Nanny (Genny) Vidrine.

Thanks to Dr. Clements and Dr. McMann and staff of Mid Jeff Extended Care Hospital for Gene’s special care and personal touch, also for putting up with the family.

There will be a Memorial Mass on July 27, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Port Arthur. More information on details of service later.
