Cynthia "Boots" Larue Shivers

Cynthia Larue “Boots” Shivers,
91, of Fannett, died at her son’s home, Saturday, July 6, 2013. She was born on
February 14, 1922, in Tyler, to Cricket Malone Browning and Rufus Franklin
Browning.
She spent her younger
years in Van, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1940. After marrying,
she moved to Freeport when her husband completed his service during World War
II. They later moved to Winnie, finally settling in Fannett in 1950, where she
raised her children and spent her remaining years. Mrs. Shivers was a devoted
member of First Baptist Church in Fannett. She will be remembered for her fried
pies and for being an excellent cook, as well as for her selflessness,
generosity, and service to others. Mrs. Shivers was a member of the sewing group
in Hamshire and a member of TOPS.
She is survived by her
sons, Jerry Don Shivers and his wife, Anne, of Fannett and Dale Shivers and his wife, Lana, of Katy;
grandchildren, Alicia Bourgeois and her husband, John; Adam Shivers and his wife,
Susan; Matt Shivers and his wife, Sarah; and Mandy Wendt and her husband, Ryan;
eleven great-grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Luke, Ethan, Jackson, and Hudson
Shivers, Owen and Chase Wendt, Johnny and Katie Bourgeois, and Keeley
Bourgeois-Buescher; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members and
friends.
She is preceded in
death by her husband, Roy Shivers; brother, T.J. Browning; and sisters, Naomi
McDow and Virginia Baldridge.
A gathering of Mrs.
Shivers’ family of friends will be from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday,
July 7, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral
service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 17019 Highway 124, Fannett, with interment
