Sam G. Guarnere, 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was born on May 10, 1923, to Bessie Mae Marino Guarnere and Nick Kelley Guarnere. He was a United States Army veteran and worked as a pipefitter and welder for over forty years. Sam was a Pentecostal Minister and enjoyed church activities. He was known for his dedication to his faith and his family. Along with being involved in the church, Sam sold real estate and enjoyed hunting, playing his guitar, and working around the house. Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Wanda Mae Guarnere; children, Robert Joe Guarnere and his partner, Gail Rumsey, of Nome; Sandra Lynn White and her partner, Robert Gideon, of Austin; daughter-in-law, Pat Guarnere of Beaumont; grandchildren, Leighton Guarnere and his wife, Sarah, Fredrick "Buddy" Guarnere and his wife, Ernestine, Jessica Hibben and her husband, Max, and Travis White and his wife, Veronica; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Vick Guarnere of Tennessee; and sister, Ann Kurtz of Nederland. He is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Fred Guarnere; brothers, Joe Guarnere and Vincent Guarnere; and sister, Laura Harvey. A gathering of Mr. Guarnere’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. |
