James A. Brown, 91 of Beaumont, died, June 7, 2013. A native of Iota, Louisiana he was born to Florence Mae Killmer Brown and Morris E. Brown on October 18, 1921. James graduated from Iota High School in June 1938 and came to Beaumont, Texas in September 1938 to attend Chenier Business College for two years. He worked in Beaumont until joining the United States Army in September 1942. James was honorably discharged in January 1946. Shortly after his discharge, he and his wife, Olita lived and worked in San Antonio, Texas for four years. Wanting to live closer to Louisiana, they moved back to Beaumont in 1950 where he worked for Texas Metal Works until he retired in 1990. After retirement James remained in Beaumont taking care of his wife until her death as well as visiting with family and friends – he really enjoyed staying in touch and maintaining friendships. Survivors include his son, Leonard Keith Brown; daughter, Diana Sue Brown; and beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olita Autin; and sisters, Vera Elaine Brown and Nettie Mae Green. A Rosary for Mr. Brown will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, with a gathering of his family and friends to immediately follow until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, with interment to follow at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery, in Abbeville, Louisiana.
