Katherine Leicht Thompson, 95, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

Katherine was born to a pioneer Beaumont family on May 14, 1918. After graduating from St. Anthony High School, she married the love of her life, Buck Thompson. They were married for fifty-nine years before he passed away in 1996. 

She was a volunteer at Hotel Dieu and St. Elizabeth Hospital. Katherine was a charter member of Catholic Daughters, St. Anthony Cathedral Ladies, and a docent at The McFaddin-Ward House.

An avid bowler, she bowled for fifty years and only stopped at the age of 90. After moving to Atria Collier Park, she continued her love of bowling carrying the highest average in WII Bowling game until she had to stop for health reasons.

Katherine is survived by her brothers, Robert Leicht and his wife, Faith and Tom Leicht and his wife, Barbara; children, Bonnie Barnett; Lynda Scherer and her husband, Bob; Richard Thompson and his wife, Lana; Beverly Warmuth and her husband, John; and Tom Thompson and his wife, Marthea; thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A gathering of Mrs. Thompson's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; parents, Harry and Rosa Leicht; brother, Harry Leicht, Jr.; and sisters, Heloise Leicht Chadborne and Clifford Leicht Marshall.
