Floyd Elmer Williams 
January 2, 1926 - June 17, 2013

Floyd Elmer Williams, 87, of Silsbee, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013. Floyd was born on January 2, 1926, in Thicket, to Ola “Edgar” Collins Williams and David Ellis Williams.

 

Floyd was raised in Honey Island where he spent his youth hunting and fishing in the woods and creeks with his cousins and nephews. After serving in The United States Navy during WWII, he returned home and married Louise Bryan and they began their life together. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. Floyd was a member in good standing of Pine Lodge 642 in Kountze.

           

Floyd retired from The Sun Pipe Line Company after forty-two years of service. He and Louise then retired to Tivoli on the Guadalupe River. They had many wonderful years on the river, fishing and entertaining family and friends.

 

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Louise Bryan Williams; son, Nathan Williams and his wife, Kelly, of Robstown; daughters, Ann Boyett and her husband, David, of Kountze; Linda Gober of Seminole, Oklahoma; Beverly Jones of Spring; Pam Sandiford and her husband, Ernie, of Spring; and Kathy Savoy and her husband, Pete, of Beaumont; twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Floyd is also survived by Copper, his “good old hunting dog”.

 

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J. W. Williams and O. D. Williams; and sisters, Myra Griffin, Mae Lyons, Syvira Ashmore, Lois Richardson, Jesse Lee Jordan, Marie O’Neal, and Hazel Gandy.

 

A gathering of Mr. Williams’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m, with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery, Kountze.   Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 755 South 11th Street, Suite 212, Beaumont, Texas  77701
