Johnnie Sanders, 86, of Nederland, died at her home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born on November 1, 1926, in Palatka, Florida, to Eula Massey and J.C. Massey, and had been a resident of the Nederland area since 1945. On July 31, 1945, Johnnie married the love of her life, Rayford Sanders. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Port Neches, and the Wesley Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Sanders of Nederland; son, Glenn Sanders of Sour Lake; brother, Larry Massey of Alpharetta, Georgia; and her very special little princess, Laurel Bradberry of Groves. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Tom Massey, Hugh Massey, Jim Massey, and Clifford Massey. A gathering of Mrs. Sanders’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 1826 Nall Street, Port Neches, with Dr. Wesley Welborn officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1826 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651.
