Carolyn "Kay" Tomplait

Kay Tomplait, 69, of Nederland, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Sabine County Hospital, Hemphill. She was born December 24, 1943, in Port Arthur to Johnie Johnson and Felix Ingo, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Kay was employed with Bruce’s Market Basket, Groves for over twenty years, before retiring from the pharmacy department. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland. Kay is survived by her husband of fifty years, James Tomplait, Sr. of Nederland; son, Jerry Tomplait and his wife, Dona, of Fresno, Texas; daughters, Susan Yarbrough of Groves, Misty Ledoux and her husband, Jeremy, and Terri Eldridge and her husband, Doug, all of Nederland; and sisters, Donna Gonzales of Port Arthur and Sue Simon and her husband, Mike, of Groves. She was also survived by her thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, who knew her has “MawMaw” and “Granny”; and numerous other nieces, nephews and family members. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; and son, James “Jimmy” Tomplait, Jr. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow, Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. A private family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles, Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.
