Marvin Hunter, 71, of Stowell, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 5, 1942, to Gladys Ruth Blair Hunter and Maurice Earl Hunter, in Winnie. Marvin was a lifelong resident of the Winnie – Stowell area. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Marvin worked in the automotive field, as a mechanic and in the oil field, as a truck driver. Marvin is survived by his wife, Elaine Griffin Hunter of Stowell; daughter, Helen Rhodes and her husband, Dusty, of Mont Belvieu; sons, Keith Hunter and his wife, Lynn, of Winnie; Dale Hunter and his wife, Jennifer, of LaBelle; stepson, Scotty Wilkins and his wife, Carrie, of Lumberton; stepdaughter, Kimberly Glen and her husband, Frank, of Beaumont; brother, Earl Hunter and his wife, Judy, of Houstonia, Missouri; sisters, Elsie Tumey of Jewett, Missouri; Ellen Weathers and her husband, Sonny, of Hughesville, Missouri; grandchildren, Megan Walker, Misty Walker, Skylar Hunter, Jada Hunter, Aaron Strickland, Allen Strickland, Allisa Strickland, and Dustin Hunter; great-grandchildren, Taylor Fregia, Nona Hunter, Serenity Hunter, and A. J. Strickland; step grandchildren, Wade Phelps, Billy Phelps, Joshua Phelps, and Lauren Wilkins. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ruby Hellen Hunter. A gathering of Mr. Hunter’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie. |
