Jeanette “Momma Jeanette” Nichols died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at her residence in Hankamer. She was born on October 23, 1939, in Anahuac, to Roxie and Leonard Rivon, Sr., and had been a longtime resident of the area. Momma Jeanette was known for her cooking and no one ever left her home or restaurant hungry. She never met a stranger and she loved her family dearly. Momma Jeanette is survived by her sons, Calvin Nichols, Sr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Hankamer; Wesley Nichols, Sr. and his wife, Sandra, of Anahuac; and Steven Nichols and his girlfriend, Keshia E. Foster, of Hankamer; daughter, Connie Nichols of Anahuac; brothers, Leonard Rivon, Jr. and his wife, Jo Ann, of Raywood; Raymond Rivon, Sr., and his wife, Cora Lee, of Double Bayou; and David Rivon of Anahuac; sister, Lois Jane Haskins and her husband, Dalmar “Sugar Boy”, of Hankamer; and numerous relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Walter Nichols. A gathering of Momma Jeanette’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Interment will follow at Rivon Cemetery, Anahuac. |
