Sybil Wind Delaney, 88, of Hamshire, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at The Arboretum of Winnie. She was born on July 18, 1924, in Childress, to Matilda Cottrell Sparkman and Arthur Alvin Sparkman.

Mrs. Delaney was a longtime resident of the Hamshire area, and was a retired secretary for Hamshire-Fannett School District. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Doug Wind and his wife, Betty, of Crystal Beach; Todd Wind, and his wife, Caron, of Nederland; daughter, Kay Lloyd and her husband, Joe, of Timpson; grandchildren, Alex Olson and her husband, John, of Baytown; Will Lloyd and his wife, Sara, of Shelbyville; Tyler Wind and his wife, Kristin, of Nederland; Courtney Austin and her husband, Nic, of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Collin Lloyd; Addison Lloyd; Wyatt Olson; and Jessie Olson;

Mrs. Delaney is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jack Wind and Olan Delaney; aunt, Orella Sparkman; and cousin, Muriel Wind; grandson, Leighton Lloyd; and niece, Liz Wind.

A gathering of Mrs. Delaney’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Winnie, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
