Dee, 94, died at home on April 30, 2013. A native of Trinity, Texas, she lived in the Beaumont area since the mid 30’s.

Born to Reverend Osborn Thornton and Leona Thornton of Trinity, Texas, she was preceded in death by Robert “Lee” Roy Henderson, her husband and the love of her life; and sister, Winnie Davis. Dee is survived by her children, Edith Sue Roberts; Robert Lee Roy Henderson, Jr. and his wife, Glenda; Ruthie Ann “Sissy” Smith and her husband, Tom; as well as six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed ceramics, mosaics, gardening, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with family and friends. Dee was never idle. She opened her own craft store, Dee’s Hobby Shop, in Beaumont, in order to share her passion for creating beautiful arrangements from just about anything. Dee loved her family and friends, enjoyed life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

A memorial service for Mrs. Henderson will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
