Ruby Lee Tatum, 72, of Nederland, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born April 28, 1940, George and Osie Griffin, in Camp Seale, Texas. Ruby was a faithful and long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Nederland. She was a star basketball player, while attending Honey Island High School. Ruby also attended Kountze High School where she was a twirler and played the flute in band. Ruby worked for many years as a pharmacy clerk with Eckerd’s, Nederland and then at Rienstra Furniture, before retiring. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and most recently painting.

Ruby is survived by her son, Earnest Tatum of Silsbee; daughters, Denise Hopkins and her husband, Skott, and Sherri Hebert and her husband, Richard, all of Nederland; grandchildren, Misti Tatum of Port Arthur and Russell Hebert of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Zayd, Zayli, Zyler and Zana; and sister, Jeanette Droddy and her husband, Ron, of Hartburg.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Tatum’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon, with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
