L. Joy Oswalt, 79, of Vidor, died Saturday, April 20, 2013.  She was born on June 25, 1933, in Shelby County, to Lillie Metcalf Payne and Hillard Payne. 

Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Avery Oswalt; sons, Norman Oswalt and his wife, Ida Jane, of Huntington; Gurvis Oswalt and his wife, Sharon, of Vidor; and Melvin Oswalt and his wife, Jackie, of Fannett; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond Payne of LaPlace, Louisiana.

A gathering of Mrs. Oswalt’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church, 290 South Street, Vidor.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Her graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, at Strong Cemetery, Huxley, Texas, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
