Iris Christine Allen Slack, 50, of Orange, died on April 10, 2013, at a Beaumont hospital, after a brief but fierce illness. She was born October 25, 1962, at Itazuke, Fukuoka Prefecture on the Japanese island of Kyushu to Thomas P. Allen and Anna Marie Best.

Iris was an eight-year veteran of the United States Air Force and had a 20-year career as a travel agent. Currently she worked as a volunteer at Shangri La Botanical Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond H. Allen, last year.

Survivors include her mother, Anna Marie Best, of Orange, Texas; husband of 34 years, Richard Alan Slack, recently of Orange, Texas; sons, Eric Brandon Slack (Krista), and Christopher Ryan Slack (Stephanie); infant grandson, Christopher Raymond Slack; mother-in-law, Helen B. Slack, all of Napa, California; and maternal aunt, Iris Case of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, Texas.
