Morgan P. Patterson 
May 2, 1931 - April 9, 2013

Morgan P. Patterson, 81, of Nederland, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland. He was born May 2, 1931, to Zulah Belle and Herbert William Patterson in San Antonio, and had been a resident of the area for seventy-six years. Morgan was United States Navy veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He worked as a postman in his earlier career and later was employed for thirty-two and a half years as a supervisor with Texaco, before his retirement. Morgan was also an ordained minister, a foster parent to many in his younger years, and known by his testimonies of faith. In his spare time he enjoyed doing yard work.

 

Morgan is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Mignonne “Minnie” Patterson; sons, Jimmy Nicholson of Port Arthur and Paul Nicholson and his wife, Tiffany, of Fannett; daughters, Melody Patterson-Oseguera and her husband, David, and Robin Patterson-Corpuz and her husband, Johnathan, all of Nederland; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Zulah Dark and her husband, Clyde, of Utah and Frances Jones of Nederland.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kurt Wayne Nicholson; brothers, Herbert, Judge “Bubba” and Terry Patterson; and sister, Mary Lou Wyble.

 

A gathering of Mr. Patterson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Thriving House, 9401 Memorial Boulevard, Port Arthur. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Thriving House, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
