Lillie Mae Mello, 96, of Port Arthur, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland. She was born August 25, 1916, to Louisiana and Delmonte Broussard, and had been a resident of the area for seventy-seven years. Lillie devoted her life to caring for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Sanders and her husband, Burt, of Port Arthur; Jeanette Carlson and her husband, Conrad; and Linda Woods and her husband, Michael, all of Port Neches; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Lillie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Avena James Mello; grandson, Keith Woods; two brothers; and two sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Mello’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
