Adolph "J.R." Walters, Jr. 
February 24, 1948 - April 7, 2013

A soldier died today. Adolph “J.R.” Walters, Jr., 65, of Silsbee, died Sunday, April 7, 2013. J.R. was born on February 24, 1948, in Beaumont, to Audrey Mae Humble Walters and Adolph Walters.  For two years, four months, and two days, he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later became a carpenter and a painter.

J.R. was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and was the adult Sunday school teacher at Friendship Baptist Church in Buna.

Survivors include his wife, Frances “Fran” Walters; sons, Billy Dryden and his wife, Rena, of Three Forks, Montana; Brad Walters of Kentucky; and Isom W. Dryden and his wife, Danna, of Vidor; daughters, D’Juana Mott, Donna Dowell, and Teresa Campise; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Campbell and her husband, Dennis, of Silsbee. He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughters, Caroletta Lynn Dryden and Frances Ann Dryden.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church, 39700 U.S. 96, Buna, 77612, with interment to follow at Cunningham Cemetery, Silsbee.
