Mildred Angell Sampson, 94, of Houston, formerly of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care in Houston. She was born on February 7, 1919, to Edith Angell Griffin and Stiles W. Griffin, in Beaumont. Mildred was a retired beautician. She was a member of Northend Methodist, which later became Wesley United Methodist Church. It was there she taught Methodist Youth Fellowship and Adult Sunday School class. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Sampson Crow and her husband, Thomas; and son, Thomas James Sampson and his wife, Marisol, all of Houston; grandchildren, Thomas Sampson, Edith Putnam, John Sampson, Catherine Sampson, and Kevin Sampson; and great-grandchildren, Christina Sampson, Rebecca Sampson, Mildred Sampson, Erin Putnam, Kenley Putnam, Alexa Sampson, and Laily Sampson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Junius Sampson; and brother, S.W. Griffin. A gathering of Mrs. Sampson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
