Willie Treece, 77, of Nederland, died Sunday, March 31, 2013. She was born on June 20, 1935, in Boyce, Louisiana, to Alice and Ed Basco. Willie enjoyed cooking, especially fried chicken, listening to gospel music, and was also a very talented piano player who could play by ear. She loved her little dog, Cricket dearly. Willie also liked to spend time outside, mow her yard, and had several gardens.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Melancon of Houston; daughter, Alice Henderson and her husband, David, of Nederland; grandchildren, Jamie Cochill and her husband, Tom; Michael Melancon; Dalton Melancon; and Lauren Melancon; great-grandchild, Katelynn Bryant; and sister, Elma Jean Hale of Milam.

A gathering of Mrs. Treece’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
