Armas L. Gremillion, Jr., of Beaumont, died Thursday, February 28, 2013.  He was ninety-six years of age.

He was born in Hessmer, Louisiana, to Minnie Eugenie Berlin Gremillion and Armas Louis Gremillion Sr., on December 23, 1916. He graduated from LSU at Baton Rouge with a B.A. in Economics, and while at LSU he served in the Army ROTC.

During World War II, he was stationed in the Pacific theatre; New Georgia, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Luzon; as an Army Artillery Captain, 37th "Buckeye" division, 148th infantry, 22nd regiment, 87th battalion, "Charlie" company.  It was during the war and after the United States Army took the Philippines that he met his wife, Miriam in Manila. Miriam preceded him in death. Armas Louis was the recipient of the Silver and Bronze Stars for his military accomplishments and service. He spent his career after the war in the employ of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in The Philippines, Akron, Ohio and Beaumont.

He and Miriam raised two sons, Robert L. Gremillion and Gerald M. Gremillion, both of whom survive their parents.

Mr. Gremillion was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Lottie Gremillion; Glenn B. Gremillion, Sr.; Daniel E. Gremillion, Sr.; Alden M. Gremillion; and, Odessa Gremillion Ducote.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Armas and Miriam will be buried in cemetery 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marksville, Louisiana, near many of the Gremillion family.
